AJ FERNANDEZ SAN LOTANO REQUIEM CONNECTICUT | CIGAR REVIEW

NOVEMBER 6, 2022 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

AJ FERNANDEZ SAN LOTANO REQUIEM CONNECTICUT TORO (6 x 52)

WRAPPER: ECUADORIAN CONNECTICUT

BINDER: HONDURAS

FILLER: NICARAGUA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

A mild sweetness embeds itself within smooth earth, and coffee takes a share of that sweetness for itself as smoke escapes on the exhale. A few bits of dirt in that coffee, as well.

Everything flows through an unsurprisingly perfect draw. It’s AJ, so I’ve found that to be standard. No excuses, just performance. An excellent smoke output also proves to be standard.

Coffee and earth flow through the nose. Spice, coffee, earth, and a thin blanket of sweetness cleanly linger on the finish. Nice.

Nothing overbearing in the slightest. Kind of like my one friend’s parents who checked in to make sure everything was okay and none of us were missing limbs and then left us alone. Nothing like my other friend’s parents who constantly asked me why I didn’t like sauerkraut.

“Well, do you like cabbage?”

“No.”

Toasted honey and a floral note join without the other guests fading away. Excellent balance.

Coffee and mixed nuts in the air add some nice companions.

The ash is solid, and dimes be stackin’. Might not be to scale.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 28 mins.

RATING: 3.25 / 4 - Way better than sauerkraut.
