ARTESANO DEL TOBACCO EL PULPO | CIGAR REVIEW

JUNE 22, 2023 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

ARTESANO DEL TOBACCO EL PULPO TORO GRANDE (6 x 56)

WRAPPER: MEXICAN SAN ANDRÉS

BINDER: NICARAGUA

FILLER: NICARAGUA

Spice, earth, and subtle chocolate kick on the first pull. That spice kicks all over the palate. Earth and sweetness flow through the nose a few seconds before spice starts clearing out the sinuses. Powerful but not obnoxious. Spice sinks heavy into the palate with some coffee and earth to keep it company.

I dig the bands. They’re a bit of fun.

I got to jam with a bass player buddy this past week, and we figured it must have been nearly a year since we last played music together. We broke out some Pixies, Weezer, and a handful of originals. Always a good time, and not too much rust either.

Excellent draw and smoke output. Chocolate, earth, wood, and spice fill the air. Nice.

Solid ash departs easily from a fairly straight burn line.

Spice slowly fades, and the slightest dash of cherry begins to join from the draw to the finish. Everything else remains in play, and much smoother. Not a bit of harshness, and it continues to smooth out all the way to the end.

Walnut finds a place in the draw and finish towards the end.

El Pulpo added some more relaxation to an already relaxing morning. A good time. Kind of reminds me of a jam session.

SMOKE TIME: 2 hrs. 7 mins.

RATING: 3.25 / 4 - A good time.
