HOYO DE MONTERREY OSCURO | CIGAR REVIEW

AUGUST 8, 2024 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

HOYO DE MONTERREY OSCURO TORO (6 x 52)

WRAPPER: BRAZILIAN MATA FINA OSCURO

BINDER: ECUADORIAN SUMATRA

FILLER: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, HONDURAS, NICARAGUA

A perfect draw, a generous smoke output, and we’re off. Black cherry, graphite, and some dark chocolate, which tucks itself away deep in the corners, make for a nice mix and balance and doesn’t feel the need to smack me in the face.

Tea and coffee mingle on the finish. Graphite and tea blow easy through the nose. A dash of cocoa powder binds to the graphite.

Ash hangs on well. The burn needs some help here and there once it reached the half. No big deal.

Dark chocolate moves toward crispy brownie. I dig it. Black cherry punches straight up the middle during the exhale, and an enjoyable smooth coffee develops as a solid core from pull to finish.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 37 mins.

RATING: 3 / 4 - Crispy brownie
