RAMON ALLONES SPECIAL SELECTION BY AJ FERNANDEZ TORO BP (6 1/4 x 54)
WRAPPER: NICARAGUAN HABANO
BINDER: NICARAGUA
FILLER: NICARAGUA
From an excellent draw, Ramon puts forth earth, sweetness, and a combination of milk and dark chocolate. Spice plays a bit in the background. The retrohale finds some lightly salted earth and spice. Hints of coffee and a subtle spice poke around on the finish.
Heavy, dense smoke fills the room with chocolate, wood, and spice. Nice hosts.
Milk chocolate, earth, wood, and tea do the heavy lifting as I proceed. Clean flowing earth pours through the retrohale. The finish quickly moves through earth and sweetness while allowing a subtle chocolate to linger.
Ramon provides a respectable burn line for a solid ash to rest.
As I’m moving some things around, holding the cigar with my mouth, cedar, butter, and fruit blast through my nostrils. Very nice. And, yes, “very nice” was written in Borat’s voice. That’s the only way I hear that phrase.
Fruit leads the pulls now. Cream and chocolate follow. Very nice.
The finish remains fairly tame - bits of earth, subtle chocolate, and a sprinkle of mild spice.
If you ask for mild spice at one of the local Thai restaurants where I live, prepare yourself for both entry and exit.
A minor burn touch-up keeps the burn line on the up and up.
Coffee, leather, and a touch of charred oak begin to dominate. Prune and dark earth flow out the nose.
A bit of harshness on the finish leads to fisticuffs between leather and coffee. A little prune hiding out in there.
Another burn touch-up is required. There were other threats of touch-ups, but the trusty smoke roll ™ prevented any realization.
The smoke continues to flow. Very nice.
SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 49 mins.
RATING: 3.25 / 4 - Very nice.
