VILLIGER 1888 NICARAGUA | CIGAR REVIEW

JULY 23, 2023 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

VILLIGER 1888 NICARAGUA TORO (6 x 50)

WRAPPER: ECUADORIAN SUMATRA

BINDER: NICARAGUA

FILLER: NICARAGUA, PENNSYLVANIA

1888 begins with earth, some roasted mixed nuts, and a very gentle spice. The retrohale has some roasted nuts, leaning more towards cashews and peanuts, and some suede. Leather, coffee, and celery melt into the finish and fade cleanly.

The draw shows the slightest bit of resistance. Good smoke output.

Mowed the lawn today. That was exciting.

Roasted mixed nuts and earth keep on keepin’ on while inviting in some slightly sweetened coffee. Bits of chocolate flow in that coffee from time to time. Dark chocolate.

Coffee grounds flow through the nostrils, and the finish holds on to some leather and coffee with a quick subtle spice passing through. Hardly even stops to say hello.

1888 burns straight all on its own. Harshness builds a bit towards the end as most of the good stuff drops out.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 37 mins.

RATING: 2.75 / 4 - Keep on keepin’ on.

Villiger is doing a bang up job lately, they’re transforming the company from a machine made name to a premium cigar name. Their Villiger Miami Laquito no 1 is phenomenal and they also have the lancero especial from their LA Flor De Ynclan line that’s really good. Not to mention the 1888 cigars which are always a good smoke. They keep this up no one will think corner store machine made cigars when they mention Villiger.
