VILLIGER LA FLOR DE YNCLAN | CIGAR REVIEW

JUNE 23, 2022 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

VILLIGER LA FLOR DE YNCLAN ROBUSTO (5 x 50)

WRAPPER: ECUADOR

BINDER: INDONESIA

FILLER: NICARAGUA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Ynclan’s first puffs bring in a plethora of flavors. Mixed nuts, earth, sweetness, coffee, and floral rush through, each taking just a bit of time to linger before moving out of the way for the next. Good balance.

Draw is spot on, and the smoke output is plentiful. Earth and mixed nuts treat the nostrils in the retrohale, and the finish exhibits a bit of spice with sweetness and some mild coffee.

Mixed nuts, sweetness, and floral, slightly sprinkled with hints of fruit, make for a rather pleasant journey here. That sweetness actually leans towards honey. Nice.

The finish, although not overwhelming before, begins to smooth out even more with some sweetness, floral, and the slightest touch of spice. Creaminess begins to develop as well.

Good burn, solid ash, and no complaints thus far.

Establishing itself completely, honey takes the lead. Fruit, earth, and a general sweetness fill in the gaps well.

Bread, sweetness, and earth push through the nose, somewhat clandestinely. Coffee adds some darkness to the finish, allowing traces of honey to keep it from getting too heavy. Nice combination there. That creaminess keeps on keeping on.

The burn wavers a tad, but not enough to motivate me to expend energy to assist.

A split develops in the wrapper, but I’m far enough along that I’m not going to lose sleep over it.

Ynclan begins to mellow out as honey, floral, and earth still speak but quietly. A little more than a whisper but not much.

The finish follows the mellow train with coffee and honey being the loudest of the quiet, and floral makes a few peeps.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 23 mins.

RATING: 3 / 4 - Nice and easy.
