CROWNED HEADS FOUR KICKS CAPA ESPECIAL ÁGUILAS LE 2021 | CIGAR REVIEW

DECEMBER 29, 2021 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

CROWNED HEADS FOUR KICKS CAPA ESPECIAL ÁGUILAS LE 2021 (5 1/2 x 50)

WRAPPER: ECUADORIAN SUMATRA

BINDER: NICARAGUA

FILLER: NICARAGUA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Looks like a cigar. Nice bands. Earth, fruit, and spice off the foot and wrapper. All ready?

Heaps of spice jump over the fence like a dog going after the mailman on a slow Tuesday. Fruit and milk chocolate drop out of the mailman’s pockets. Five-second rule.

Draws like a dream, and puts out a great deal of smoke. For some reason I’m randomly reminded of the time one of my high school buddies put out a camp fire by peeing on it. Spoiler alert, it smelled like urine. My other buddy walked into the smoke by accident just as my aspiring firefighting buddy extinguished it. Just because I was laughing doesn’t mean I didn’t feel bad for my buddy who had just been piss smoked. Terrible. To clarify, the Capa Especial’s smoke does not smell like urine. Didn’t want to cause any confusion.

Spice lingers on the tongue, nearly outdoing its welcome. Dark chocolate blends with leather, trying to get a word in over the spice, which isn’t hearing any of that noise.

Do I detect tea? Yes, I believe I do. Believing in oneself is always a step in self-help books. Apparently, to truly believe in yourself, you have to pay someone else to tell you to believe in yourself. Weird.

Ash looks flaky, but isn’t flaky. Stay tuned for more Twilight Zone. An assortment of change rest in the ash, stacking quarters, dimes, pennies, and a folded two-dollar bill.

Dark, heavy earth begins to introduce the spice, which now allows room for a dash of sweetness and a nice helping of milk chocolate at the end. A sprinkle of salt. Fruit. Salted fruit? Sure. Cherry pokes me. Don’t be pushy.

Clean retrohale with just the slightest bit of grit. Spice lingers a bit on my nose hairs. Gonna smell that later.

Burning quite quickly. Moving right along.

Second verse, same as the first, but a bit more tame. I’m not Henry the VIII. Sweetness and cherry bow out. Dark earth, chocolate, and spice remain, all a bit quieter than before. Earth, leather, and spice add a nice aroma to the room.

A bit of floral comes into the draw now, bringing some sweetness back into the fold with it. Plain pretzel sticks in a toe. Good old sweet tobacco even shows up. Sweet.

Leather and spice conquer the finish.

Spice, dark earth, and plain pretzel close it out. Spice holds on tight to the title on the finish, but it's a tame beast. Allows room for his corner buddy, leather. Getting a little soft on me here. That’s what she said.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 16 mins.

RATING: 2.75 / 4 - Don’t pee on the fire.
