DAVIDOFF ANIVERSARIO NO. 2 | CIGAR REVIEW

FEBRUARY 19, 2024 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

DAVIDOFF ANIVERSARIO NO. 2 (7 x 48)

WRAPPER: ECUADORIAN CONNECTICUT

BINDER: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

FILLER: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Graphite, earth, and light cream flow and intermingle from an effortless draw. Ample smoke output. Touches of dark earth and spice on the finish. Even more dark earth on the retrohale. No spice.

Apparently, this particular Davidoff is considered a unicorn. It’s such a unicorn, in fact, that it was sent to me in a cigar club offering a couple of years ago. I have a theory (maybe a few) about unicorns in the cigar world, but that’s for another time. Anyway.

Mustard seed begins to mosey in and out of the conversation. Probably has something interesting to say, but it’s a seed. A talking seed would be weird. At least a little weird.

Dark ash keeps a strong hold on a straight but rather thick burn line.

Creaminess builds on the finish and holds. Aniversario hits cruise control this morning. No place to be, just enjoying the ride. Sounds like retirement. Unicorn take the wheel.

Harshness builds toward the end. Probably driving in the fast lane and getting some one-finger salutes. Apparently, some people are in a hurry.

SMOKE TIME: 2 hrs.

RATING: 3 / 4 - Unicorn take the wheel.
