EL REY DEL MUNDO SHADE GROWN | CIGAR REVIEW

SEPTEMBER 24, 2023 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

EL REY DEL MUNDO SHADE GROWN ROBUSTO (5 1/2 x 50)

WRAPPER: HONDURAN CONNECTICUT SHADE

BINDER: HONDURAS

FILLER: HONDURAS

Shade Grown delivers spice, soil, and cream from the first puff. Smooth draw and a nice helping on the smoke output. Spice builds on the finish, making its way through some cream and lightly sugared toast. A simple breakfast.

Cream, salt, and vanilla push through the nose on the retrohale. I dig it.

Some occasional smoke rolls™ keep the burn in check, which doesn’t really wander too much.

A touch of mustard seed sneaks in now and then. Creamy almond and cashew butter tend to join forces rather than separating as we move along. I never like having to stir nut butters when the oil separates, but they’re supposed to be better for you or something. Not a doctor.

Cinnamon candy steps in near the end. Always enjoy that.

The ash tends to hold on well throughout, but a chunk drops off into the ashtray before I can roll it. That picture will be a little messy. No biggie.

The burn gets a little funkier at the end, but we're closing it out, so whatever.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 38 mins.

RATING: 3.25 / 4 - Not a doctor.
