ESPINOSA KNUCKLE SANDWICH MADURO | CIGAR REVIEW

FEBRUARY 12, 2023 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

ESPINOSA KNUCKLE SANDWICH MADURO CORONA GORDA R (5 5/8 x 46)

WRAPPER: ECUADORIAN SUMATRA

BINDER: NICARAGUA

FILLER: NICARAGUA

Corona Gorda R. Sounds like a cigar a pirate would love. Get it? “Rrrrr.” It’s early. Anyway.

The Knuckle Sandwich punches with spice and feathers in some cherry and dark chocolate. The sting of the spice hangs on in the finish. Cherry, dark chocolate, and earth rest on the palate and fade quickly.

Spice singes my nose hairs. Probably needed a trim anyway. There was some earth and cherry in there as well.

The draw and smoke output are perfect. Wood, chocolate, and spice work the room.

The Knuckle Sandwich is dark and gritty. Reminds me of a brawling fight scene in a black and white movie.

As the spice fades, a smooth cola sweetness begins to blend with the dark chocolate and cherry and ends out with some creamy cherry. That’s quite tasty.

The retrohale moves on to a perfectly grilled steak. My nose hairs are recovering.

The finish leaves just a bit of lingering spice and develops a creaminess, which hosts some dark chocolate and cola sweetness.

Moving further down the line, the Knuckle Sandwich begins to darken up, allowing coffee, and a smooth coffee at that, to take the lead. Dark chocolate and cherry still throw jabs on the exhale. There were even some nice hits of cherry cola near the finale. Excellent.

No harshness, no burn touch-ups. Corncob nubber deployed.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 40 mins.

RATING: 3.5 / 4 - A cigar fit for a pirate.
