LA GIANNA HAVANA MADURO | CIGAR REVIEW

MAY 23, 2024 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

LA GIANNA HAVANA MADURO TORO (6 x 54)

WRAPPER: HONDURAS

BINDER: HONDURAS

FILLER: HONDURAS

Earth, spice, unspecified wood, and dueling subtle milk and dark chocolate pull rather easily, and the smoke flows generously. Buttered popcorn comes in a few more pulls down the line.

Earth and a lightly floral influenced coffee drift through the retrohale. The finish is fairly clean with coffee, earth, and spice. All very subdued.

The burn line tends to and ebb and flow. Reminds me when musicians were allowed to record and perform without a click track. You know? Be human. The chorus might have sped up a little, the bridge might have slowed down. Nobody cared. It was in the moment, and it added feel to the music. Much like that music, I haven’t had to fix the burn yet. It finds its spot.

The ash flakes here and there. Also kind of like musicians.

Odd story popped in my head. I’ll keep it short. I was rehearsing with a band at my house several years ago, and the new keyboardist said he would be right back. When he came back, we asked him where he went, and he said he had taken a leak behind my garage. He said he thought it would be rude to ask to use my restroom. He didn’t last long.

I have to employ my lighter a few times near the end to get the burn back in line. Okay, so one of the musicians got a little too crazy during the guitar solo on a few takes, but I’m not pointing any fingers.

Earth, black pepper, and maple syrup take us into a fading outro.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 47 mins.

RATING: 2.75 / 4
