OSCAR VALLADARES 2012 SUMATRA | CIGAR REVIEW

AUGUST 27, 2023 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

OSCAR VALLADARES 2012 SUMATRA TORO (6 x 52)

WRAPPER: ECUADORIAN SUMATRA

BINDER: HONDURAS

FILLER: HONDURAS, NICARAGUA

Spice hits hard and coats the palate right out of the gate. Sweet earth, mixed nuts, and a touch of chocolate break through the spice. Sweet earth and some chocolate flow through the nose. Not much spice there. Nose hairs remain unsinged. The finish holds on to spice, earth, and the thinnest coat of chocolate.

Excellent draw and smoke output.

A solid ash holds on well to a fairly straight burn line and breaks off easily.

Sumatra smooths out and fades a bit near the half.

I caught Pink’s song “Trust Fall” on the radio today. I liked my alternate lyrics better. They were good enough to get a few laughs from my daughter. I don’t remember them exactly, but trust me, they were better.

Earth, mixed nuts, and a nice hit of coffee start to gain some traction on the draw. They float off the foot as well, along with a vegetal note.

Not too shabby. It would probably make a good trust fall buddy if it had arms.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 23 mins.

RATING: 3 / 4 - A worthy trust fall buddy
