VILLIGER CUÉLLAR BLACK FOREST | CIGAR REVIEW

JULY 24, 2021 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

VILLIGER CUÉLLAR BLACK FOREST ROBUSTO (5 x 48)

WRAPPER: MEXICO

BINDER: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

FILLER: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Wood, earth, and chocolate come through Black Forest’s first few draws. Draw and smoke output are spot on.

On the retrohale, wood blends with equal bits of cherry and chocolate. That’s enjoyable.

The finish leans towards the dark side, providing dark earth, a splash of coffee, and spice. Dark side. Take it as a Star Wars reference or not.

Everything is well-balanced so far.

Sitting with Black Forest a little while, spice and cream begin to meander through the draws, adding to an already enjoyable host of flavors. Black Forest burns like a champ.

Black Forest’s foot emits aromas of wood, spice, and chocolate.

Cream, coffee, and chocolate arrive separately and join together for a nice mocha at the exhale. Eat your heart out, Starbucks.

Dark cherry, dark earth, and coffee travel briefly through my nostrils. Better than the smell of napalm in the morning, I would guess.

The finish finds a nice smooth coffee, a touch of spice, and, if I look hard enough, some dark chocolate hangs out here as well.

The burn tends to lag or wander from time to time, but it has been correcting itself. Discipline is an important part of life. Look for other life lessons in future writings.

Nearing the end, Black Forest does require a burn touch-up. Not the end of the world.

As I’m sitting here, This Is Spinal Tap enters my brain. Specifically, the line “None more black” enters my brain. I love that movie. “Best leave it unsolved, really.”

And, as though Black Forest sensed my venture into This Is Spinal Tap, another burn touch-up is required. No spontaneous combustion here.

Lights are on in the shed, but it’s getting dark here. Coffee and dark earth.

Out of the nose, dark earth and coffee flow forth. Dark earth edges out coffee for top spot.

Black Forest’s finish leaves a big gulp of dark coffee.

“Can I raise a practical question at this point? Are we gonna do Stonehenge tomorrow?”

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 13 mins.

RATING: 3 / 4 - None more black.
