WARPED FLOR DEL VALLE SKY FLOWER | CIGAR REVIEW

JUNE 5, 2022 - PHIL KURUT, COMEDY - CIGARS - MUSIC

WARPED FLOR DEL VALLE SKY FLOWER (2021) (5 5/8 x 48)

WRAPPER: NICARAGUAN COROJO ‘99

BINDER: NICARAGUA

FILLER: NICARAGUA

The Sky Flower’s perfect draw starts off with spice, sweetness, dark wood, and dark earth. Its smoke output matches the draw’s perfection. As I blow the smoke out, I get some cream and the slightest bit of black licorice.

Dark earth and a splash of coffee pour through the retrohale, and spice, wood, and leather sit together well on the finish.

The seams are nearly invisible, and I dig the band. Nothing I really had to note, but two things I noticed as I’m sitting here entertaining myself. Nice day outside.

A question I’ve received as of late, and, full disclosure, not from a lot of people but a few: How do you choose which cigars you’re going to review?

I review cigars I want to try (new or old) or cigars I’m sent to review. It doesn’t matter to me what everyone else is reviewing nor if it’s the “hot new thing”. My experience with the “hot new thing” cigars has been that they are in actuality rarely “hot” or “new”. But, they are things. One out of three is a tough sale for me.

Anyway.

As we move along, the Sky Flower begins sticking with earth and cream for its base. Wood lingers in the background with spice.

Spice and leather drop wood from the finish. Cut from the team. It always stings a bit, but maybe he’ll experience a comeback.

Touches of floral mix with cream and leather. Nice.

Floral leather comes through the nostrils. Floral leather? Yeah.

Leather dominates the finish as bits of floral hide on the top of my mouth, revealing themselves when my tongue goes searching. I also locate some very subdued maple syrup. Good find.

The burn struggles to stay on course, but I hesitate to grab for my lighter. I’ll give it a chance.

And, a chance was all it needed. That's probably on an inspirational poster at some flea market.

The Sky Flower continues towards the end with wood, sweetness, earth, and some baked bread, keeping its perfect draw and smoke output well intact.

My nose is treated with some earth and cedar.

Leather picks dark chocolate as a trusty companion on the finish. Spice lightly coats the palate. Not overwhelming in the slightest.

When given a chance, this cigar kept chugging along on its own, allowing me to just enjoy the ride. Look for me at your local flea market. All inspirational stuff at my booth.

SMOKE TIME: 1 hr. 13 mins.

RATING: 3 / 4 - Inspirationally inspiring inspiration.
